Summary Description: To use remote sensing technologies and unmanned vehicles to gather information for surveying, mapping, videography, and photographic/photogrammetric purposes. The ideal candidate would hold a FAA Part 107 license and a minimum of 5 years’ experience, have a knowledge of computers and electronics, have previous R/C aircraft or drone piloting skills for LiDAR and Photogrammetry, and have a TWIC (transportation working identification card) or the ability to pass a federal background check to get one.
General Responsibilities:
- Assisting in job information and equipment preparation
- Traveling to various work sites
- Managing and training visual observers as needed
- Operating and monitoring sensor payloads
- Managing Equipment
- Using various software for flight planning and data management
- Maintaining systems compliance with FAA, State and Local UAS operations and regulations
- Occasionally required to enter secure facilities such as refineries, plants, or maritime areas
- Ensure integrity and quality of systems, data and collection processes
Required Education:
- Hold a FAA Part 107 license
- Knowledge of computers and electronics
- Have a TWIC (transportation worker identification credential) card or the ability to pass a federal background check to obtain one
- Specialized training in various software used in the collection of Geospatial data
- Associate’s degree or higher preferred
Required Experience:
- Familiarity with DJI M600 and Riegl VUX1 systems
- Functional knowledge of AutoCad, Terrasolid, Inertial Explorer and Pix4d
- Experience with LiDAR and Image data collection / processing techniques
- Organized and attentive to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Physical Requirements:
- Sit for extended periods of time working on the computer
- Driving to and from various outside locations
- Ability to lift 75lbs
- Work outside in different weather conditions (except rain) for 8-12 hours a day
- Ability to travel on short notice (<48 hours)
