1. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
- The purpose of the RPAS/Drone Supervisor role is to be the Accountable Manager for the SBPM and ensure that any use of company owned UAV/Drones are compliant with current UAV/Drone, Health and Safety, and data protection legislation and standard operating procedure. This includes updating the SBPM SOP and applying for license requirements as required.
2. WORK OF ROLE
Supervision:
- To create a set of new policies that govern UAV/Drone use as per landowners’ permission.
- and to ensure these policies are understood and implemented by all staff involved in the
- operation of UAV/Drones, and that this policy is reviewed and amended as required.
RPAS Flight Operations:
- Safe and reliable operations
- Flight operations parameters
- Control and responsibility of RPAS crew members
- Monitor crew member’s proficiency
- Flight records correctly completed.
- Stop, delay or prohibit any unsafe flight.
- Management of RPAS Flight Operations
- Flight operations planning – flights, crew, RPA

3. QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- National Diploma Security Management
- Be in position of a valid remotely piloted aircraft license (RPL) (SACAA accredited) including night-time flying and beyond visual line of sight flying endorsement.
- Aviation Security Management
4. EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 2 years working experience of conducting drone flights with a minimum of 200 hours proven / logged drone flights, of which at least 150 hours are BVLOS / nighttime flying.
- Be in possession of a valid code EB (Code 08) driver’s license.
- Have a proven computer Proficiency in MS office.
5. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Communication in English (spoken, written, and reading)
- Basic knowledge of computer-based programmes.
- Be an assertive goal orientated self-starter with good interpersonal organizational and time management skills.
