Our team is expanding, and we welcome a dynamic, skilled Drone Pilot Asset Inspector to kick start a newly created opportunity and make a significant impact on our Northern contracting operations.

The role
As a Drone Pilot Asset Inspector, your primary focus will be the safe and efficient operation of both our own and our customers' electricity networks, transmission systems, and generation assets. You will lead trial programs and assist in integrating innovative solutions and technologies into everyday business operations with our key electricity distribution customers. This role is based in Auckland and reports to the Operations Manager – Inspection Solutions.

The key responsibility for this position includes, but are not limited to:
- Operate RPAS/Drones to inspect electrical assets across diverse locations
- Analyse field data and provide actionable insights for decision-making
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings and recommendations
- Conduct visual and technical condition assessments
- Collaborate on RPAS solutions, safety, and operational improvements
- Trial new technologies, aircraft & software solutions
- Work with key team members to ensure seamless drone operations and resolve incidents.

Our Ideal candidate
We are looking for a tech-savvy professional with a “can-do” attitude, ready to travel across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific as needed. You will thrive working outdoors in varying weather conditions and bring a passion for innovation and safety.

To be successful in this role, you will also have some of the following skills:
- Minimum two years’ experience in both office and fieldwork, including site inspection and investigations with a strong understanding of drone technology and flight safety
- Knowledge about mission planner and hold a certificate in flying commercial drones having completed Parts 101 and 102
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for reporting and collaboration
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Being a safety Champion and always complying to HSE regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in MS Office products
- Full clean NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence
- A team player who is also self-directed and independent.
