Description of Work Unit

The mission of the Colorado State University Drone Center is to remove barriers to UAV-enabled research and education at CSU, allowing these applications to grow and flourish. We do this by providing access to specialized equipment, technical expertise, and a collaborative community of researchers, both internal and external to the University.

The Drone Center is a rapidly growing CORE facility handling many requests for UAS services, education, consultation, and more. We are seeking a motivated, professional, and qualified individual to join our team on a part-time basis.

Position Summary

This is a part-time, temporary hourly position focused on assisting the Drone Center with daily operations, piloting, training, and equipment management.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:

Planning and piloting uncrewed aircraft missions
Aircraft fleet management and maintenance
Teaching / training UAS regulations and flight skills
Representing the Drone Center at events (such as fairs and presentations)
Working with clients and ensuring customer satisfaction
Working with 2D/3D mapping and modeling software

Position
Minimum Qualifications:

The successful applicant will already possess a skill set related to UAS and/or crewed aviation. At a minimum this includes:

Previous experience working with and piloting UAS
A basic understanding of drone hardware and software
A basic understanding of drone applications for research, commercial, and hobby use
Good customer service and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Be punctual, professional, and reliable

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will also have some or all of these preferred qualifications:

Instructor / teaching experience in K-12, vocational or higher education programs.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
Experience with photography / videography
