ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The most important and essential job duty of this position is attitude and includes the following: ability to work with all members and divisions to capture the vision of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office. To provide backup duties to the PIO, shoot and edit videos, take still shots, along with other duties and responsibilities related to the role of Asst. Videographer/PIO/Drone Operator.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and have quick turnaround time on projects.
  • Ability to work and maintain a relationship with a diverse and ever-changing group of media partners and employees.
  • Ability to bring a creative vision to projects and ensure that the final video effectively communicates the intended message and resonates with the target audience.
  • Manage project timelines, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience in Photoshop, Canva, Adobe Media Player, Facebook, Instagram, X, and other digital programs and formats.
  • Ability to compose and disseminate news releases.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain Part 107 license to operate a drone.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in operating different still cameras and video cameras, setting up lighting and sound equipment, and capturing and producing high quality video footage.
  • Experience in pre- and post-production and must possess editing skills.
  • Experience in creating content and posting on various social media platforms.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability and willingness to keep up with the latest video technology, trends, and best practices in the industry.
  • Ability to use Tailor built System

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and comprehend reports and manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, command staff and the public – in person and over the telephone
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics
  • Must possess excellent proofreading skills to ensure a quality product

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to deal with situations requiring tact, diplomacy, understanding, fairness, firmness and judgement
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Current and Valid Louisiana Driver’s License
  • Basic PIO Training
  • Media/Camera/Videographer Training
  • Part 107 Drone Operators License

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work and travel in adverse weather conditions and other adverse environmental conditions,
  • Ability to lift and transport cameras, lights, and video equipment to various shoot sites.
  • Ability to work extended hours when the situation merits.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Work shift from 7:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Fridays.

Employees are required to work flexible hours when and if needed. In some circumstances employees may be subject to call-out 24 hours a day.

EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS:

Employment with SMPSO is for no specific period. Your employment with SMPSO will be “at will,” meaning that either you or the Sheriff may terminate your employment at any time and for any reason, with or without cause. Although your job duties, title, compensation and benefits, as well as the SMPSO’s personnel policies and procedures, may change from time to time, the “at will” nature of your employment will not be affected by these changes.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:

All employees of the SMPSO will have a probationary period of one (1) year. A job performance evaluation will be done after six (6) months.
