About the role

Reporting to the Assistant Flight Operations Manager, the Airborne Sensor Operator is responsible for interpreting flight plans, evaluating the various criteria necessary to undertake aerial surveying missions, and executing those missions. In addition, the Airborne Sensor Operator is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting with regards to the missions that have been carried out.

Key Responsibilities

▪ Pre-flight, in-flight and post flight operation of airborne sensor systems

▪ Evaluating sun angles, tidal and weather forecasts for projects.

▪ Assist in the submission of flight planning to Air Traffic Control and pilot.

▪ Evaluate accommodation and transport options for field operations.

▪ Participate in pre-flight and post flight safety checks.

▪ Assist with equipment installation, alignment, calibration, and testing.

▪ Operation of airborne digital imagery/LiDAR systems and ancillary systems.

▪ Recording and upload of flight logs and daily reports.

▪ Monitoring in flight quality of sensor data, trajectories, and overall flight performance.

▪ Assist in the routine maintenance and troubleshooting of sensors and other in-flight equipment.

▪ Quality Control of data and trajectories.

▪ Dispatch field data in a timely fashion.

▪ And any other reasonable duties as directed by the Flight Operations Manager.

▪ Perform production tasks as requested by the Production Manager (secondary capacity).

About you

To be successful in this role you will have/be:

▪ A love of flying and travel.

▪ The ability to work away from home, 16/12 roster.

▪ Able to work as a critical member of the team.

▪ The ability to identify and build working relationships in a way that is mutually beneficial to the Company, the team, and your own personal & professional growth.

▪ The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.

▪ The ability to actively listen, speak, observe, and empathise with others.

▪ The ability to solve problems in an effective and timely manner by identifying and defining the problem, generating alternative solutions, evaluating & selecting the best alternative and in consultation with manager, implement the selected solution.

▪ Strong time management skills and ability to multitask in a dynamic and sometimes challenging field environment (remote working locations).

▪ The ability to change plans quickly and effectively and to have back-up plans / contingencies in mind.
