The Fixed-Wing Sensor Operator will operate a gimbal camera system on a Cessna fixed-wing aircraft. The typical working crew in the aircraft will be the Sensor Operator and the Pilot in Command. Having strong teamwork, troubleshooting, and CRM skills is crucial for operational efficiency and flight safety. Manned flight experience is recommended, and a high tolerance to motion sickness is an absolute must. This position will work under the Vice President, Manned Operations, R&D. This job will be working overnight hours, 7PM-4AM.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Organize and gather all necessary equipment for each project
- Operate onboard thermal camera gimbal
- QC imagery and data during acquisition
- Offload and organize data after missions
- Continually evaluate operations to increase efficiency and bring new ideas to management team
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot camera gimbal systems
- Understanding of thermography
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to be comfortable in small aircraft and not prone to motion sickness
- Demonstrated ability to think clearly and stay calm in high stress situations
Education and Experience:
- Private Pilot License and above preferred, but not needed
- Law enforcement experience preferred, but not needed
- 1-2 years of sensor operator or related experience
- Experience using thermal camera systems
- Ability to pass a background and drug screening
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting in an aircraft and looking at screens
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at a time
- Able to work overnight hours
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends
- Weight Restriction: Must weigh under 200 lbs
- Able to use hands and fingers to operate flight controls
- Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness
