We are currently recruiting a UAV Lead to join our London based Survey & UAV Department. This position exercises considerable latitude in overseeing UAV ground and flight operations efforts including mission planning, execution and briefing, aircrew resource management and ground & flight safety. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in Geomatic Surveying and previous experience with the Operation of UAV’s.

We are also considering applications from experienced UAV pilots who are keen to learn and develop despite having limited experience in the geospatial industry.

The successful candidate will be operating out of our Head Office in Watford, UK

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform as Pilot-in-Command of Company UAV’s.
  • Take part in everyday drone flight operations.
  • Management of knowledge sharing, training and workflows, growing the wider UAV strength of the business.
  • Determine compliance with specification and operational suitability during engineering tests and conduct flight support through specifically prescribed tests and specifications.
  • Define, plan, organise, and execute flight plans and schedules.
  • Leading technical operations over and above preplanned mapping missions – cinematography, facade modelling, LIDAR, structural inspections et
  • Ensure compliance with service guidance, company policy & procedures and UK CAA regulations.
  • Conduct demonstrations and participate in operational and experimental ground and flight testing of assigned UAV(s).
  • Utilise various manuals such as Drone Flight Manuals, the Operations Manual, and other documents and reports to ascertain factors such as aircraft condition, route, schedule, and mechanical reliability.
  • Any other duties as required by the business.

Requirements

  • Formal survey/engineering education or relevant experience in the UAV/surveying field (BSc Degree or 3+ years site experience).
  • Have held a GVC or PFCO in the past for commercial UAV operation.
  • Ability to work hands-on with commercial UAV systems, including assembly, disassembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Availability for travelling to work UK wide which requires staying away in hotels.
  • End to end mission planning to data delivery of UAV operations experience
  • Knowledge of UK CAA aviation legislation.
  • Experience of post processing platforms (Agisoft, Pix4D, RealityCapture, Terra).
  • An active interest in technology, innovation and industry advancements/efficiencies
  • UK/EU driving license.
  • The right to work in the UK
