We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army's Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation stop-fold aircraft.
This position is onsite in Fort Worth.
Large UAS Test Pilot
Bell is seeking an experienced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Test Pilot to join Bell's Innovation Team and support the design, development and demonstration of new and novel products and platforms. Incumbent will plan, execute and report on experimental flight test of large unmanned systems and travel in support of flight test and demonstration operations, as required. Incumbent will participate in and/or lead test planning, flight evaluations, flight test analysis, and flight test reporting. Incumbent will demonstrate large UAS configurations and technologies leading to integration in the NAS and the United States Military, shaping the future of vertical lift aviation. This position will be part of a diverse team of professionals capable of executing in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
Pilot-In-Command (PIC) and/or Ground Station Operator (GSO) of unmanned aircraft during ground and flight tests and demonstrations.
Plan, execute and report on engineering and experimental test flights of new aircraft and/or systems.
Lead coordination of NOTAMS, test/demo site preparation and approvals, and additional clearances/approvals as required.
Demonstrate safe, effective, and efficient test planning and execution, applying crew resource management principles with test crew, telemetry engineers, ATC, chase/photo aircraft, etc.
Make recommendations as to operational effectiveness of systems, aircraft handling qualities and design improvements.
Accurately keep pilot log and aircraft maintenance and configuration log.
Be a positive and constructive member of the test team and project teams as assigned to maximize unity of effort and ensure successful accomplishment of program goals.
Serve as a consultant to management and as an external spokesman for Bell on major matters and programs.
Perform additional tasks and acquire varying responsibilities as appropriate.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in a technical field.
Graduate of a recognized test pilot school, preferably from a UAS curriculum.
At least 200 hours of manned and/or unmanned pilot experience, 100 of which are PIC hours.
Equivalent university level education, training, and experience in UAS operations may be considered in lieu of pilot hours.
At least 2 years of experience in experimental flight test planning, execution, data analysis, and reporting.
Current FAA Third Class Medical or better.
Willing to travel domestically and internationally for flight test and demonstration activities.
Able to obtain a secret security clearance.
Possess a valid US Driver License.
A US Citizen or US Person.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience flying UAS larger than 55 pounds.
FAA Private Pilot certificate or better with current instrument rating.
