Compensation Range: $500-$1000 for each completed drone flight—one per week.

SUMMARY:

Safely and efficiently operate drones according to CymSTAR’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and FAA regulations. Flights are to be conducted at locations near Corpus Christi TX to collect desired sensor data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Conduct drone missions to collect thermal and orthomosaic mapping of locations in proximity to Corpus Christi TX once per week.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Comply with CymSTAR Standard Operating Procedures, State of Texas laws, and FAA regulations. Maintain accurate records of flight logs and other documentation as required.
  • Mission Planning: Assist in planning and preparing for flights, including conducting pre-flight checks, assessing weather conditions, and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready and functional.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Capture high-quality aerial data, including images, videos, and other relevant information.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with clients professionally, providing clear communication and ensuring their requirements are met during operations.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on UAS equipment, ensuring all systems are in working condition. Report and help troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

  • FAA Part 107 Certification: Must hold a current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Experience: Proven experience in operating drones for commercial or public safety purposes. Experience with a variety of UAS platforms is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of drone technology, flight dynamics, and data collection methods. Proficiency in UAS software and tools.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of flight operations and data collection/analysis.
  • Safety-Minded: Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to recognize and mitigate risks.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Own drone equipment preferred but not required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Flexible schedule, as flights will occur on an as-needed basis, typically once per week.
  • Reliable transportation to travel to various locations for flights.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry relevant technical literature and UAS instruction/operating manuals. Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in English. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common professional and industry relevant technical literature. Ability to correspond professionally, effectively and efficiently with coworkers, subcontractors, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community in person and in a virtual team environment. Ability to effectively present technical information to colleagues, management, and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply airspace navigational knowledge to maintain situational awareness, conduct flight operations, and comply with any regulatory restrictions.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Ability to proficiently use UAS software and associated electronic tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.

Experienced and proficient in the use of standard personal computer software tools, including software application development environments, word processors, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, virtual meetings, team collaboration, project tracking, and databases.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to identify and define problems, gather and analyze relevant data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

CITIZENSHIP:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The contractor is frequently required to stand, walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The contractor must have the ability to navigate and work effectively in various field environments, including remote, rural, or urban settings.
  • The contractor must be capable of regularly lifting and carrying UAS equipment and supplies, including the ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds and walk long distances.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those the contractor might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the contractor may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, electrical shock, moving parts, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment will occasionally be loud due to equipment operating during flight operations.
  • The work environment will be largely outdoors. Contractors will be exposed to ambient temperatures and weather conditions.
  • The contractor must be able to travel.
  • The contractor is occasionally required to work holidays, weekends, and odd shifts.
