Trainee Drone Instructor
heliguy™ is looking for a tenacious, passionate and highly-skilled trainee to join our drone training team.
This is a rare opportunity to become a key player at a renowned and highly-regarded drone training provider, working with innovative UAS (unmanned aircraft system) technology and equipping the next-generation of pilots with the skills they need to embark on a career in the multi-million-pound drone industry.
And with UAS missions evolving into more complex and groundbreaking operations - such as drone in a box, drone delivery, and BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) deployment - it is an exciting time to be an instructor.
You will help deliver our core training courses throughout the UK, delivering practical and theory tuition to major organisations across a range of industries, including surveying, inspection, public safety, education/research, and agriculture.
The right candidate will be passionate about our learners, helping them develop, either face-to-face, or remotely via our Learning Management System.
Training experience or a suitable, relevant degree is preferred, but not essential, and training delivery qualifications such as L3 AET or UPPA are desirable, but not essential as we'll put you through the necessary qualifications during onboarding.
An interest in technology, especially drones, is an advantage and would help you hit the ground running. Even better if you are already a qualified drone pilot - but don’t worry if you’re not, as we can teach this in-house.
A number of our instructors are ex-Armed Forces personnel and the Training Instructor role is suitable for someone with a military background. We are an Armed Forces friendly organisation and recognised with the Silver Employer Recognition Award.
Responsibilities:
● Deliver drone training around the UK. This includes theoretical and practical learning, and assessments.
● Invigilate remote examinations from heliguy™ HQ.
● Support candidates during their learning, offering advice and help along the way.
● Curate learning material to ensure it maintains the highest standards and conformity to evolving regulations.
● Work alongside and report directly to the Head of Training, coordinating the delivery of courses and administration.
Requirements:
● Strong understanding of training delivery and how to present information in a concise and informative manner.
● High-level of people skills: Personable, patient, and practical.
● Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
● Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
● Adaptability and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications:
● Previous experience in a training role is preferred, but not a requirement.
● Training delivery qualifications such as L3 AET or UPPA are desirable, but not essential.
● Experience of drones is advantageous, but not essential, as you can be trained on the job.
Why heliguy™?:
● Innovative Products: We train candidates to use some of the most innovative drone solutions in the industry. This is your chance to get hands on with this kit and master equipment which is at the forefront of the UAS industry.
● Expand Your Skill Set: The role will require you to become a qualified drone pilot. There will also be the chance to expand your training portfolio, growing your skill set in areas such as surveying, CPD, and Ofqual-accredited qualifications.
● Creativity is Embraced: It is essential that our training materials and delivery stay modern, creative and provide a streamlined approach. At heliguy™, you’re given the opportunity to bring creative solutions to the table. We don’t want to do it the way it’s always been done - we want to create something new.
● Collaborative Environment: Working in a collaborative team provides a supportive environment. You’ll be a part of the entire process and work with the team to solve all kinds of problems.
● Instant Impact: At heliguy™ every team member will have the chance to make a real impact on the products we release. You will hit the ground running and have the opportunity to get to work.
● Wide-reaching Training Delivery: Explore the country in our custom vehicles with subsidised travel, hotels, and meals when deployed operationally.
● Overtime: Sometimes, training demands early starts and late finishes, especially when you’re on the road or delivering night tuition. But you’ll be remunerated, either with time off in lieu or overtime payments.
