Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Drone Strategy Development:

Formulate comprehensive operational strategies for drone projects conducted worldwide to ensure efficient execution and the timely hand over of accurate results.

2. Effective Team Leadership:

Assume a leadership role in flight operations, managing a proficient and cohesive team consisting of remote pilots and ground personnel.

3. Competency and Resource Enablement:

Ensure that all team members possess the requisite skills, training, and resources essential for the effective discharge of their responsibilities, promoting a culture of preparedness.

4. Safety and Compliance Adherence:

Promote a culture of safety and regulatory compliance within the team, rigorously upholding aviation regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.

5. Performance Evaluation and Development Support:

Conduct routine performance assessments, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate the professional development of team members to foster ongoing excellence.

6. Collaboration and Resource Optimisation:

Collaborate seamlessly with other teams, departments, and stakeholders to optimise resource allocation, streamline operations, and achieve shared objectives.

7. Thorough Flight Planning Oversight:

Oversee comprehensive flight planning activities, ensuring strict adherence to operational procedures, safety protocols, and industry best practices.

8. Real-Time Mission Monitoring:

Monitor mission progress in real-time, making necessary adjustments to ensure the safe and efficient attainment of mission objectives.

9. Operational Planning and Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate closely with project managers and stakeholders to develop detailed operational plans, establish timelines, and identify resource requirements for each project or operation.

10. Risk Assessment and Mitigation Strategies:

Conduct meticulous risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to minimise operational risks, ensuring the safety and success of missions.

11. Accurate Documentation:

Maintain precise records, including comprehensive flight logs, documentation, and incident reports, in strict accordance with regulatory requirements.

12. Continuous Learning and Innovation:

Remain current with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, and apply this knowledge to enhance operational efficiency and safety.

13. Drone Pilot:

Carry out drone flights on various projects.

Essential Skills:

- Hold a valid GVC or EU Specified Category

- Bsc/Msc or other qualification in GIS, Surveying or related discipline

- Have over 150 logged flight hours

- Have 2 years of team management experience and a management qualification

- Have experience using a variety of fixed-wing and multirotor aircraft below 25kg

- Have extensive underpinning knowledge of UK drone regulations and safety standards

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to engage directly with clients

Ultra Desirable:

- Experience of using LiDAR scanners, Reality Capture and SLAM

- Experience of operating confined space drones

- Have experience using a variety of fixed wing and multirotor aircraft above 25kg

- Over 200 hours of flight time

- OFQUAL 5 Award for drone pilots
