The work of the Safety, Security and Licencing Authority Radiation Protection team is to develop Radiation and Radioactive Waste Policy and provide Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste governance by following and developing processes.  These ensure that RRSL is compliant company standards and with requirements for operating 2 nuclear Licensed Sites at Raynesway Derby as well as external areas across Rolls Royce Submarines Ltd.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Health Physicist you will be working under the guidance of a Radiation Protection Manager working across operational facilities and Rolls Royce out stations:

  • Be part of a team dealing with the day-to-day operations across 2 Nuclear licenced sites,
  • Supporting the new build programme for operational facilities, with Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste and Environmental Permitting Advice,
  • Developing standards and arrangements, for Radiation Protection Radioactive Waste Management and Environmental Permitting, Carriage of Dangerous Goods Class 7 and enforcing these across RRSL.

Essential:

  • A science-based degree or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Experience working within Health Physics, radiation protection or radioactive waste and environment is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Ability to use bespoke software applications is essential for the role.
  • Interpersonal and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) with team leader and other members of staff
  • The ability to follow documented procedures and processes, ability to plan own work within job requirements.

Desirable:

  • Radiation Protection Advisor
  • Chartered Radiation Profession

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
