Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.

Operates portable equipment, such as video
camera and accessories, microphones and audio mixer, lights and lighting
related accessories, production equipment and transport vehicle with the
objective of recording video and audio for use in a production.
Works with minimum supervision, while
maintaining high standards of video production.
Position requires a firm grasp of the
aesthetics of photography, camera movement and composition, plus facility with
camera recorded audio.
Direct on-camera talent, to ensure quality
performance.
Address specific needs of the clients (i.e.,
producer, reporter, and director).
Manage projects while adhering to time and
budget constraints
Schedule necessary equipment for a production.
Apply the essentials of video editing to guide
the proper selection of shots.
Assemble and disassemble sets, move and hang
fixtures from a studio grid, assist the lighting director, and setup and/or
strike equipment after a production.
Perform in the role of floor director, camera
operator, production assistant, robotic camera operator or teleprompter
operator.
Works under the direct supervision of a studio
supervisor, and the direction of a television director.
On location, the videographer will perform the
same functions with portable television production equipment.
Location shooting lacks the controls of the
studio environment, therefore, the incumbent must display flexibility and
initiative in achieving high standards.
The videographer must drive the state vehicles
in a responsible manner. Maryland Public Television's name is on every
videographer’s van. The videographer must also maintain log sheet for regular
maintenance.
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the field of television or film as part of a production team
using portable equipment, such as video camera and accessories, microphones and audio mixer.
Note:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to two years of the required experience.
Preference will be given to
applicants who possess the following preferred
qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your

Proficiency operating a drone for
videography
Experience shooting broadcast
news and/or feature packages with the ability to frame scenes and follow the
action on location.
Ability to work with minimal
supervision while maintaining high standards of video production.
Ability to use and maintain a
variety of video and audio equipment.
Experience in framing shots and
performing various camera techniques.
Applicants are required to provide a copy of a demo reel or link for a demo reel, if selected for an interview.
This position may require a flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
This position may require working outside in unfavorable or harsh weather conditions that might include exposure to the sun, wind, water, etc.
This position may include long periods of walking, standing, climbing, and maneuvering in and around tight spaces.
The selected candidate will be required to lift equipment in excess of 50 pounds.
The selected candidate may be required to climb ladders and use motorized lifts in order to operate and install in-studio lights.
