Job Description:

The Licensed UAS Pilot will operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for various imaging and data collection projects. This role involves flight planning, setting up physical ground control targets, and processing imagery to create high-quality 2D and 3D products. The pilot will be responsible for producing accurate and detailed reports on the finished products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Flight Operations: Operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for a variety of applications including aerial photography, surveying, and data collection.
  • Flight Planning: Develop and execute detailed flight plans for 2D and 3D imagery projects, ensuring efficient and effective data acquisition.
  • Ground Control Setup: Set up and calibrate physical ground control targets to enhance the accuracy of imagery and data collection.
  • Imagery Processing: Process collected imagery to produce 2D and 3D products such as image mosaics, elevation models, 3D mesh, and point clouds.
  • Product Accuracy: Generate and deliver accuracy reports for finished products, ensuring they meet project specifications and standards.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines related to UAV operations and flight activities.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and checks on UAV equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in UAV operations preferred.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a UAS pilot with a proven track record in operating UAVs for imagery and data collection projects.
  • Licensing: Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or equivalent certification required.
  • Skills: Proficiency in flight planning, imagery processing, and producing 2D and 3D products. Familiarity with UAV software and data processing tools is essential.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of ground control target setup, image mosaic creation, elevation modeling, 3D mesh generation, and point cloud processing.
  • Communication: Strong ability to communicate findings and reports clearly and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: Additional certifications related to UAV operations or advanced imagery processing.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with software tools for flight planning, imagery processing, and data analysis.
  • Experience: Prior experience working on projects requiring high precision and accuracy in both imagery and data processing.
