Mitie Security - Drone Pilot

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team trialling unmanned systems (ground & air) on behalf of our client over a 12-month period. As a Security Drone Pilot, you will be responsible for the operation and management of a variety of unmanned aerial and ground systems, used in security surveillance and monitoring. This role involves utilising unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and unmanned ground systems (UGS) to enhance security measures, gather intelligence, and ensure the safety of designated areas. Job Type: 12 month contract (possibility of extension)

Hours: 42 hours a week, (overtime available and flexibility essential).

Pay rate: £20.50ph

Qualifications:
  • Must possess a General Visual line of sight certificate (GVC)
  • SIA (SECURITY Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guard Licensed desirable but not essential
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a drone pilot.
  • Must be eligible for SC clearance under the client.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong IT Skills, with knowledge of the base MS Office Suite
  • Be flexible and adaptable to a changing workplace
  • Experience in different drones including their maintenance and the laws around them.
  • Good physical condition to handle the demands of outdoor work, including walking long distances if necessary.
  • Visual acuity sufficient for monitoring drone feeds and analysing data effectively.


Main Duties
  • Conduct pre-flight checks to ensure drone functionality and safety.
  • Plan and execute flight paths for optimal coverage of surveillance areas.
  • Monitor drone operations during flights, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Analyse aerial footage for suspicious activities or security breaches.
  • Collaborate with security teams to provide actionable insights based on drone data.
  • Maintain equipment, including regular inspections and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Document flight logs, incidents, and any relevant findings post-operation.
  • Make sure all staff and support staff are wearing the relevant PPE.
  • Proactively seek continuous service improvements
  • Assist the Operations Manager with the completion of the monthly report and deliver to all stakeholders in the pre-agreed timelines.
  • Assist with the interrogation of data for daily performance updated and discussion with the Operations Manager and Regional Manager as required.
  • Provide support to the Operations Manager with implementing changes to working practices to improve contract performance.
