Our client has an opportunity for a Senior UAS Test Pilot who is responsible for operating unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for various missions, ensuring safe and efficient flight operations in compliance with all regulatory requirements. This role requires piloting solid skills, attention to detail, and working collaboratively with a team. This role involves conducting test flights, troubleshooting, and optimizing the performance of heavy-lift multi-rotor platforms, primarily those based on ArduCopter technology. This is an onsite role in Columbia, Maryland.

Working Procedure:

  • Conduct test flights and operations of UAV systems, focusing on heavy-lift multi-rotor platforms.
  • Operate UAS for various missions, including surveillance, mapping, and inspection.
  • Conduct pre-flight planning, including risk assessments, weather analysis, and site surveys.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FAA Part 107.
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on UAS equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during flight operations.
  • Maintain detailed flight logs and documentation.
  • Record and analyze flight data, providing detailed reports on each test and operation.
  • Collaborate with engineering/production teams to refine aircraft performance based on test results.
  • Implement safety protocols during all flight operations.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve mission objectives.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in UAS operations.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education Requirement: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as a technical or meteorological degree, is highly desirable.

Experience Requirement: Minimum of ten years of experience in a technical or aviation field operations and maintenance (O&M) environment.
