Drone Pilot
Location: Adelaide, South Australia (Relocation support available for interstate candidates)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Work Set-up: Full-time | Field-based role with frequent travel
The majority of work is conducted on deployment supporting flight operations and testing campaigns.

About the Role:

We are seeking a hands-on Drone Pilot to support flight testing, operational deployment, and validation activities for  uncrewed aerial systems. This is a practical, field-focused position suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, travelling regularly, and playing a direct role in real aircraft operations.

You will operate and support experimental and pre-production aircraft during flight trials, assisting with launch and recovery, aircraft preparation, and in-field troubleshooting. The role offers significant autonomy and exposure to evolving aerospace technologies within a fast-paced operational environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate uncrewed aerial vehicles during flight trials and deployment activities
  • Conduct flight operations in accordance with CASA regulations, safety standards, and internal procedures
  • Support aircraft launch, recovery, and ground handling in field environments
  • Perform pre-flight inspections, aircraft configuration, and readiness checks
  • Assist with basic servicing, fault diagnosis, and troubleshooting during deployments
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams during system testing and validation
  • Maintain accurate flight logs, operational documentation, and post-flight reports
  • Contribute to improving operational procedures, checklists, and field workflows
  • Operate safely in remote and challenging environmental conditions

Qualifications:

  • Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) (≤25 kg) or willingness to obtain
  • Demonstrated experience operating uncrewed aerial systems 
  • Strong practical and technical aptitude with hands-on problem-solving ability
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work in deployment-based environments
  • Ability to work effectively with evolving systems and experimental platforms
  • Strong safety mindset and adherence to operational procedures
  • Australian Citizenship required

Highly Regarded (but not essential):

  • Background in aviation, aerospace, electronics, or mechanical systems
  • Experience supporting flight testing or experimental aircraft programs
  • Exposure to defence or high-reliability operational environments
  • Fixed-wing aviation or piston aircraft experience
  • Capability to assist with aircraft maintenance activities in the field
