Job Overview

The Drone Pilot is responsible for capturing accurate data that can be analyzed by CDS Muery’s in-house software and analytics team in support of customer requirements. The Drone Pilot is also responsible for remoting pilot operations, designing flight plans for capturing accurate LiDAR data and imagery, abiding by all safety and regulatory compliance, and following company flight operations policies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordination with crews and technicians to establish project responsibilities and priorities.
  • Coordination with other Project Managers and other discipline leads on scheduling objectives, budgeting, and project milestones.
  • Handle assignments of daily responsibilities for survey field crews and office technicians.
  • Executing data capture of transmission/distribution power lines and stations as well as large acreage design topography surveys.
  • Collect Geospatial data using LIDAR and other equipment, as assigned.
  • Keep field notes of working jobs and flight logs.
  • Work closely with project team members to ensure full understanding of the scope, priorities, and deadlines.

Qualifications, Experience, and Education

  • Holds a current FAA Part 107 Remote Operator certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of 14 CFR Part 107 regulations, airspace, and LAANC system.
  • Experience with Inspired Flight and DJI Platforms.
  • Preferred experience with a wide range of sensors, including Lidar and cameras.
  • Preferred experience with Q Ground Control, PIX4D mapper and other UAV piloting apps.
  • Preferred experience with Trimble survey equipment to include R8/R10 GPS and Data Collector.
  • Ability to adapt to different working environments is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to travel weekly.
  • Be able to easily lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Proven ability to complete projects and programs according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline under minimal supervision.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a background check.
