Job Title: Drone Pilot

Location : Remote (Local to Central MI are Preferred)

Duration: 6 months, yes possibility of extension


We are seeking a talented Aeronautical Drone operator Pilot to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems.


This specific engagement will serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on projects and programs that involve drone pilot flying or other related activities. This job will require you to work closely with individuals of widely disparate backgrounds, including engineering, science, military operations, aviation and maintenance.



Responsibilities:

Developing test plans, modifying aircraft, creating custom flight profiles, and providing technical solutions.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on projects and programs that involve drone pilot flying or other related activities.
  • Potential candidate must be willing to travel approximately 20% of the time to remote locations across the U.S. The candidate must also be able to respond rapidly when called to support “pop-up” events, including travel to off-site meetings with very short notice
  • This job will require you to work closely with individuals of widely disparate backgrounds, including engineering, science, military operations, aviation and maintenance.


Required Education & Experience:

  • Must have HS diploma or GED and a minimum of 1 year of applicable UAS experience
  • Current Part 107 Remote Pilot License.
  • Obtain and maintain an FAA Class II Medical (or Military Class II). Prefer current.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the central Michigan area or willing to relocate
  • Knowledge of the National Airspace System (NAS) and Restricted Airspace.
  • Possess military or civilian aviation experience with strong familiarity with UAS platforms.
  • Familiarity with UAS industry specific software to include, but not limited to opensource ground control applications such as Mission Planner, QGroundControl, APM Planner, etc.
  • Ability to manually fly UAS platforms without the assistance of GPS guided flight modes.
  • Knowledge of MAVLink parameter(s) configuration/modification and RFD900 Tools/telemetry module configuration.
  • Ability to download and translate MAVLink log messages.
  • Knowledge of configuring RC equipment, specifically FrSky, Spektrum (and other
  • brands).
  • RC model/hobby experience with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) multi-rotor or
  • fixed-wing aircraft (provide UAS log book).
  • In-depth knowledge of Pixhawk autopilots.
  • Knowledge of the National Airspace System (NAS) and Restricted Airspace.
  • Possess a AUVSI Trusted Operator Program (TOP) certification.
  • FAA Private (or higher) pilot certificate.
  • Knowledge of regulations, risk and safety analysis techniques is highly desired.
