POSITION DESCRIPTION, RESPONSIBILITIES, & QUALIFICATIONS:
On-site, the Firefly Drone Shows Pilot ensures the overall safety, execution, and compliance with FAA requirements for the drone show. They will make a go, no-go decision based on a variety of factors including weather, safety, and status of the hardware and software. At the test field and shop the Pilot is expected to assist with project preparation and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities include:
- Successfully performing drone light shows with 100-2000 sUAS.
- Maintaining optimal surveillance of each drone status during flight.
- Ensuring the ground station and communications system is fully functional and ready for operation.
- Assisting with site setup and teardown.
- Ability to properly perform maintenance on equipment.
- Being available to troubleshoot and solve problems in limited time.
- Capability of traveling or working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Assisting in office operations including, servicing drones and equipment, assisting in the development of innovative equipment and technologies, and maintaining organization of equipment and fleets.
- Supporting project leads to ensure projects are carried out and successfully completed.
- Coordinating run of show and launch timing with client.
Qualifications include:
- Part 107 Operator license
- Skills in leading a team or project
- Professional experience with drones
- Willingness to put in long hours
- Ability to follow checklists, safety, and operating procedures
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in various climates
- Capability of critical decision making
- Ability to be personable, clear, and concise with clients
- Eagerness to learn and continue to do new things.
- Must be able to understand orientation and training in order to continue employment. Pilots are required to assist with all operations necessary to perform a drone show and will be expected to help on all levels of the team.
