Ad-Hoc Field Operator

StanhopeAI is looking for a practical, self-sufficient field operator to join our worker pool and support UAV operations across the UK and abroad. You'll handle the logistics and ground side of our field work: driving to sites, setting up and running drone test camps, and supporting our pilots and engineers on site. The role is flexible and on demand. We call on you for individual jobs, and you choose which ones fit your schedule. No drone licence is needed.

What you'll be doing

• • Driving company or hire vehicles to field sites across the UK, transporting equipment and personnel as needed
• • Setting up, running and packing down drone test camps, including equipment, power, shelters, launch/landing areas and site boundaries
• • Supporting drone pilots and engineers during test flights and field operations
• • Helping with site surveys, risk assessments and safety briefings before operations begin
• • Managing equipment inventory: loading, unloading, checking kit in and out, and reporting damage or shortages
• • Keeping the site safe, tidy and secure throughout operations
• • Troubleshooting minor practical or logistical problems on site without support
• • Keeping accurate site logs and reporting back after each job
• • A full, valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive to sites nationwide, sometimes with large or loaded vehicles. Eligibility to drive company or hire vehicles under our insurance policy
• • Experience in fieldwork, event or site setup, logistics, outdoor operations or a similar hands-on role
• • Confidence working independently and using your initiative on site
• • A strong awareness of health and safety in outdoor or operational settings
• • Physical fitness for carrying and setting up equipment outdoors in all weather conditions
• • Flexibility to take on jobs at short notice, with availability that varies week to week
• • Desirable: interest in or familiarity with drones/UAVs, a first aid certificate, or experience towing or driving larger vans
• • Flexible, ad-hoc work that fits around your schedule
• • Competitive rates paid per job
• • Hands-on involvement in drone testing and varied projects across different sites
• • The chance to build an ongoing working relationship for future bookings
• • Opportunities to develop drone operations skills
